ELLIS, John R. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

John R. Ellis, 75, who has lived in Fountain county all of his life, succumbed to complications at his home near Hillsboro Monday afternoon, at two o'clock. He had been Ill for seven weeks.

The deceased was born in Fountain county on September 28, 1854, the son of Robert and Lucinda Ellis. He was married in 1877 to Martha Bever of Hillsboro, who survives him. Mr. Ellis and his wife had recently celebrated their fifty-second wedding anniversary. He was a member of Prairie Chapel church.

Besides his wife, the stricken man is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dee Wilson and Mrs. Fred Wilson, of Hillsboro; a sister, Mrs. Laura Work, of Lafayette; six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. One son, Henry Ellis, preceded the deceased in death.

Funeral services were held at the Hillsboro M.E. church, Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Mrs. Carrie Bever, pastor of the Advance M. E. church, in charge. Burial was made in the Hillsboro Rose Hill Cemetery.
